Dear Members,
Welcome to another SAGSE newsletter.
Looking back on 2016, SAGSE has seen a number of important developments through the year. The highlight was the support of the newly appointed German ambassador to Australia, Dr. Anna Prinz, and the staff of the German Embassy in Canberra, who organized for the President of the German Bundestag, Dr. Norbert Lammert, and his delegation to attend our 49th Gala Dinner and Scholarship Award Ceremony.
We also welcomed a number of new schools, corporates and families as members to the SAGSE family, which extended our links to the Australian-German community in Melbourne. A number of those schools are now actively looking to make the SAGSE program part of their ongoing student exchange program, providing SAGSE with a great opportunity to connect with more students and families. Our organization also passed the newest requirements stipulated by the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority (VRQA), making the SAGSE program one of the few programs approved under the Department of Education in Victoria. Member and event communication have been improved with many SAGSE and GASS members helping to update database member records. If you know of any past scholarship winners who are not currently connected to SAGSE, do urge them to contact us so they can be included on our database. Also connect with SAGSE on the various social media platforms.
None of this is possible without the generous support of our scholarship sponsors, our corporate member companies and schools and our numerous family members.
On behalf of SAGSE, I thank you for your support and contribution and wish you a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Martin Schlegel
