To our SAGSE and GDANSA Communities:
Dear Students, families, schools, sponsors, members and friends,
Your health and well-being, including that of our 2020 exchange students, host families and schools, is of paramount importance.
It is therefore with great regret that we announce the cancellation of our German student exchange scheduled to take place in Australia from June to August 2020.
The uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 globally, together with government requirements and recommendations from Germany and Australia regarding travel and self-isolation, have led SAGSE and GDANSA to accept that it is impossible to continue with the inbound exchange as planned.
We are very proud that SAGSE and GDANSA have facilitated student exchange between Australia and Germany every year, for the past 53 years, and we are saddened that it cannot occur for German students visiting Australia as intended.
In this trying time, we ask our scholarship recipients, host families, schools, sponsors, and members to please bear with us while we work through the ramifications of this unprecedented decision, and patiently await any further news concerning SAGSE's and GDANSA's other activities in the coming weeks and months.
We welcome your understanding and support by renewing your membership at this difficult time, so that we can resume operations once the pandemic has subsided.
